Tire Warranty

Kapsen Manufacturing Warranty

Kapsen tires purchased from Techtire are covered against defects in workmanship and materials for 3 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first.

Coverage

Manufacturing warranty
3 years or 80,000 km

Whichever comes first, from the date of purchase.

Covered defects include
  • Tread separation
  • A tire that cannot be balanced properly after three attempts
  • Bulges across the tire caused by a fault in manufacturing

What you get

Free replacement while the tire is within its first 2/32″ of tread wear.

Pro-rated replacement after that, for the rest of the coverage: you pay only for the share of the tread you have used, based on the current price of the same tire.

Mounting and balancing on the replacement tire are charged separately.

Not covered

  • Road-hazard damage: punctures, cuts, and impact damage from potholes or curbs. A single bulge on the sidewall is almost always impact damage, not a defect.
  • Damage from improper inflation, misalignment, or improper repair or mounting.
  • Accidents, misuse or racing.
  • Normal tread wear, and tires worn down to the tread-wear indicators (2/32″).

How to make a claim

1. Bring in the tire with your original Techtire invoice, to 447 Catherine St.

2. We inspect it to confirm a manufacturing defect, and measure the tread.

3. We replace it under the terms above.

The manufacturing warranty applies to the original buyer.

Questions

Which tires does this cover?
Kapsen tires purchased from Techtire, including the Kapsen RW501 and Kapsen AW33 winter tires.
What does 2/32 inch of tread wear mean?
Tread depth is measured in 32nds of an inch. A new winter tire starts with deep tread, and we measure how much has worn with a tread gauge at the shop.
How is a pro-rated replacement worked out?
By the tread you have used. For example, if a tire has used half of its usable tread, you pay half the current price of the same tire.
Is a bulge on my sidewall covered?
A single bulge on the sidewall is almost always caused by hitting a pothole or curb, which is road damage. Bulges across the tire from a manufacturing fault are covered. We can tell the difference when we inspect the tire.
